Southerners hated abolitionists because they would speak out against slavery. If there was no slaves than no one would work the fields for the rich men.
abolitionists were mostly from the northern states because in the south slaves were used to work but in the north they had free labor.

They're called abolitionists because they wanted to abolish slavery. They hated it, thought it was morally wrong, and wanted it to end. They were usually northerners or previously slaved southerners

because slavery was always with africans and so the abolitionists couldn't ignore it. They payed so much attention to it, that when the compromise of 1850 was put in i increased abolitionists againest slavery. They hated slavery because usally they were africans too, or white and thought everyone should have equal rights and freedom. ;]
