How do you make your dog vomit if it just ate rat poison?

vomitting is not suggested for some things for instance sharp objects and chemicals please call your vet immediately. in other cases such as eating a glove, sock, chocolate, or other objects vomitting may be the best solution.

American Kennel Accosiation as well as it would seem several hundred websites all agree hydogen peroxide(HP) administered by either water based mixture or syringe/baster down the throat either way it's a teaspoon of HP for every 20lbs of weight. keep the dog active (walks, runs, fetch, whatever). this may take several minutes, every fifteen or so minutes reapply HP until vomitting occurs. if you are like me and did not have HP handy you can attempt to use salt on the back of its throat. Note: it did not work for me. i am still looking for a separate solution but hopefully my dog will regurgitate my glove like he does socks.

There are 2 ways to do this. the easiest way, however, is to give a teaspoon dose of common hydrogen peroxide and lay down a few towels, or load your dog into the bathtub and feed 1 Tablespoon of hydrogen Peroxide. No peroxide? use syrup of ipecac.

Rat poison is VERY dangerous. For times like this, get the book Idiot's Guide to Choosing, Training, and Raising your dog, by Sarah Hodgsen. This may save your dog's life one day.

After a pet (or person) ingests poison you should call Poison Control before inducing vomiting - some poisons will cause more damage while being regurgitated and should be absorbed in charcoal to dilute the toxicity.

This is not something to handled at home as minutes count.
