A petechine, often referred to as a petechial rash, is a small, pinpoint-sized red or purple spot on the skin that results from bleeding under the skin. These spots are typically less than 3 millimeters in diameter and can occur due to various causes, including infections, blood disorders, or trauma. Petechiae do not blanch (turn white) when pressed and may indicate underlying health issues that require medical evaluation.
