it is a mathematical formula based on the halfe life of maternally derived antibodies. it is used to estimate the optimal age of infectious bursal disease, an avian viral pathology, which leads to immunodepressoin in chickens.
The Deventer formula is as follows:
Vaccination age = { (log2 titre bird% - log2 breakthrough) x t1/2 } + age at sampling + correction 0-4
In which
Bird% = ELISA titre of the bird representing a certain percentage of the flock
breakthrough = breakthrough (ELISA) titre of the vaccine to be used
t1/2 = half-life time (ELISA) of the antibodies in the type of chickens being sampled
Age at sampling = age of the birds at sampling
Correction 0-4 = extra days when the sampling was done at 0 to 4 days of age.
Leonard Pearson has written: 'The effect of tuberculosis vaccination upon cattle infected with tuberculosis' -- subject(s): Tuberculosis in cattle 'Diseases and enemies of poultry' -- subject(s): Poultry, Diseases, Birds, Poultry Diseases, Mammals
Because it is the date of transfering the hatching eggs fro the incubators to the hatchers which and optimal for the embryo.
A detailed vaccination schedule for broilers and layers can be seen at a website called Poultry Industry. Go to Google and search for "engormix". Upon entering the website, click on "Technical Articles" and then "Health". Choose "Poultry Vaccines" and browse the page for the article entitled, "Vaccination in Poultry". For cattles, go to the website MSD Animal Health. Hover over the "News" tab and the choose "Cattle Vaccine, Dipping and Dosing Guides".

Poultry disease can be introduced several ways. Animal to animal vectors, airborne, Human to animal transfer, and introduced via feed and water. Most large Poultry operations enforce Bio security measures to reduce this problem.

Not all USDA meat and poultry contain vaccines. Vaccination is primarily used in livestock to prevent diseases before they are processed, but the vaccines do not remain in the meat itself. The USDA regulates the use of vaccines in animals, ensuring that any residues are within safe limits and that the meat is safe for consumption. Always check with specific producers or labels for detailed information.
