Are there any cheats for DQ 9?

Yes theres tonnes like vocation modifiers, infinite health in battle, walk through walls etc just get an action replay (or action replay dsi if you have a dsi) and get all the codes from codejunkies if you dont already have dragon quest on the action replay

it depends on how you look at it, my guess is you've acquired the whistle but you can't use it or see it in important or normal item bag, I've had the same problem all you have to do is go to normal items and select orginise items, that's it! ^^

This isn't really a cheat, but there are some coup de grace abilities like Knight Watch (paladin) that stop enemy attacks for a few turns.
