Midna and The Majora's Mask are in two separate game titles for Legend of Zelda, Midna is only found in Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess, while Majora's Mask is only found in Legend of Zelda Majora'sMask, so in fact they could not be better then the other.

This is actually a very interesting question. The Split Timeline Theory would indicate that the events of Twilight Princess occur after Majora's Mask. However, the only connection (I can find) would be the eye of Majora and Midna's Fused Shadow, which leaves much room for speculation. It would make sense that the ancient tribe the the Happy Mask Salesman mentioned would be the Twili. Zant's batte was also very similar to Majora (in style).

Midna is most certainly helpful. After all, she does help Link get through the storyline, and for first time players, she can help them get through the game and defeat enemies and bosses. Plus, she's less annoying than Navi (no "Hey!" "Listen!" and everything else that Navi subjects players to).
