Can you build a store in Sims 3?

Yes, if you are in live mode then select the 3 dots above you sims head (like when you save) and select edit town. You can change the lot type and build whatever building you want. Also if you have enough money then you can bye the lot.

If you are talking about the PC version, the answer is no. You can't build a store but you can become a partner to any of the shops in town, and you can eventually buy them. You can't do much except you get the money that is earned there and you can rename the building but you can't go in the building or work there.

Yes you can buy the shops and restaraunts etc. in The Sims 3. You have to first become a partner with whichever firm you wish to own (To become a partner costs A LOT of simoleons so make sure first you have enough money to do so) and then once you have become a partner, the new interaction with this place will show "Buy....." Which also costs a lot of simoleons. Once you have bought a firm, you are able to change its name and fire sims who work there. I hope this helped!
