i wish but no. u have to have an ethernet cable go into ur xbox in some way if u want to get xbox live with the exception of the wireless adapter. the only way u can use the usb port for xbox live is if you use the wireless adpater the ethernet port on my xbox wont work so ive researched this topic for like 3 hrs and it all comes down to just simple no you cannot.
