Can you play ps2 games on a 120 GB PS3?

No the PS3 slim like most PS3 Game consoles except the very first models with 4 USB ports will not play PS2 games. There is no quick fix which will allow you to play the games, no discs or software that you can purchase and play the Old PS2 games. However most people find that there are plenty of new PS3 games and the lack of the ability to play the PS2 games has not stopped the PS3 Slim from selling out. The Sony Style USA store has had to limit orders to only 2 to a customer and new orders for both the 120 GB and 250 GB model are again being placed on Backorder due to the overwhelming demand. You can only play PS1/PS3 games on the slim.

No only a few PS3s with the 4 USB ports on the early PS3 models played PS2 games. see related links

No, the 250GB PS3 is not backwards compatible with PS2 games.
