Well, you can use the DS suitcase and transfer your Wild World character to City Folk. Plus, your catalog from your Wild World Nook store will come with you. If you mean by traveling to the town in City Folk, a wild world character cannot travel to a city folk town.

Here's how you do it: The items that you get in Wild World will be on your catalog. You then have to transfer your Wild World character over to City Folk. Your character will come along with the catalog from Wild World, its name, and nothing else. Nothing from your pockets, home, or even the clothes you were wearing. You will, however, have your catalog that you can order your furniture from Wild World off of any time you wish.

There are three different games of animal crossing: Animal Crossing for Gamecube, Animal Crossing: Wild World for Ds and Animal Crossing: Lets Go To The City for Wii (City Folk). There will also soon be an Animal Crossing 3DS game out soon... But anyway- you can tell which game you have by what you play it on.
