The infantrymans job is never done. When on the defensive, he is always improving his fighting position, and then building alternate positions, and never stops improving his position. Then there are op/lps to put out, as well as combat patrols nightly. When a chance to rest comes up, now its time to clean weapons, to include helping clean crew weapons, eat chow, and try to sleep for a hour here or there, when it can be snatched. Dont forget about training and planning for future operations. When on the offensive, theres no time to sleep, you have to keep advancing until you make contact. then send out more patrols, build temp fighting positions, eat, clean weapons, and sleep when you can.
