Did characters get cut for brawl?

Let's see... Roy, Mewtwo, Dr. Mario, Young Link, and Pichu were cut from Melee. However, each of the series gained another character in exchange for the loss of one. Fire Emblem gained Ike, Pokemon gained Lucario and Pokemon Trainer, Zelda gained Toon Link, and Mario Bros. gained Wario (yes, I know he has his own W emblem, but he is still considered as a Mario character). From those who were originally planned to be in the game, who are known via unused data files, Mewtwo, Dr. Mario, Roy, Dixie Kong, Plusle and Minun, Toon Zelda, and Toon Sheik were cut. This means that Young Link and Pichu were never even planned to be in Brawl, while these seven were just never finished. ---- Interesting side note: Since there was no Toon Sheik, the only other transformation for a Toon Zelda would have to be Tetra, the pirate from the Wind Waker that eventually became Zelda.
