"He who permits evil commits evil" basically means that a bystander is just as responsible as someone who actually commits a crime. It's hard to argue that a bystander is exactly as responsible, but if people do not speak up against crime, then they are allowing these crimes to be commited.

I like Resident Evil better but not everyone may agree because we all have different opinions.
There is no "why", because there's no basis for the statement that the cross is considered evil in the Old Testament.
Actually God did not will Evil.God just permit it. He permits it for one reason. This reason is, God permits evil because He can draw good out of Evil. For example if there is calamity,do you the reason why god permits this? And the answer is,Yes there is, if we observed sometimes because of this situation we can see the spirit of generosity of some men by helping their fellowmen who are victims of calamities. So, still there is good that can draw even in the agony happening in our life.
God permits moral evil because Adam and Eve chose to eat the forbidden fruit. Also without bad, there would be no good and without suffering and pain, there would be no love.

Yes, Augustine was significantly troubled by the problem of evil. He grappled with the question of how a benevolent and omnipotent God could allow evil to exist in the world. Augustine ultimately concluded that evil is not a substance but a privation of good, arising from the misuse of free will by rational beings. This perspective allowed him to reconcile the existence of evil with the goodness of God, emphasizing that God permits evil to bring about greater goods or to preserve human free will.

Do you think this statement holds any truth in the present context?
Why my friend, this is a philosophical statement... but it has only one clear cut answer and that is if there is no good then evil cannot be compared and contrasted to anything thus evil acts would be good. That leads us into good existing without evil which is simply stating if ther is no evil then everything is good because of the lack of existence of evil.
