yes if you go to options and go on game it says somthing at the bottam and you put everyone or you can invite one of your friends and play with them but they can't be there character on the game they have to be a standard character (Male: Evil, Good, Nuetral, or Female: Evil, Good, Nuetral) and choose standard weapons. you can have the stats of you current character but not their appearance. also the person who is the lead player can select what percentage of Gold/exp the partner character gets.
Peter Molyneux promises all of these problem are to be fixed in Fable 3.
