Well, first, we weren't in the lab and don't have access to the 2 simulations.
Second, the question doesn't make much sense since if there is "favoring" based on genetics (heterozygotes) then there is selection. So both simulations - as described - would involve selection, but the question suggests that only the first does.
In heterozygote advantage, the heterozygote is more fit than either homozygote. For example, in regions where malaria is prevalent, heterozygotes for the sickle cell allele are more fit than either of the homozygotes: homozygotes for the sickle cell allele have sickel cell disease and homozygotes for the normal allele have no resistance to malaria --- heterozygotes have some resistance to malaria while not having sickle cell disease. But it is still selection that operating, based on fitness.

Over time, these advantageous traits become more common in the population through the process of evolution, as less-fit traits are selected against.
Explain. I have never seen the term selection used.
Explain the difference between the vassals and the serfs
Natural selection is a key mechanism of evolution that drives the adaptation of organisms to their environments, shaping the biodiversity within biomes. By favoring individuals with advantageous traits that enhance survival and reproduction, natural selection enables species to thrive under specific ecological conditions. This process not only influences the characteristics of organisms but also impacts the dynamics and stability of entire ecosystems, as species interact with one another and their environment. Ultimately, natural selection helps maintain the balance of life across various biomes.
