How can you get past the engine room in 24 Carrot Island in Poptropica?

You walk towards the signs. For ex. in Counterfeit Island there is Main Street, City Docks, Countryside, Downtown. You click on the signs it says go left or go right. (Depending on which your going!) To leave an island go back to the blimp and you can go to another. Like if I want to go to Mythology Island I have to go to Counterfeit's blimp. :)

You can get from the engine room to the vent system (and other rooms) by starting up the large overhead crane. The power controls at the left turn on the lights and the crane. Push the outside two buttons all the way down, and the middle one halfway down. Now you can climb up the boxes to the upper left, and LEAP onto the moving crane as it gets close. It will carry you to other side and the vent entrance.

Well i asked the same question and first you need to go to the switches and flip them until sll the lights r green then you take the big clw(by riding up the boxes).Then you go to the vent.
