To find a spider, first make sure that your difficulty is not set to peaceful, then go outside during the night and soon you will find a spider. You will also likely find creepers, skeleton archers, and enderman.

Monsters will only spawn in dark areas, so go outside during the night, or search for a cave underground. If you still aren't finding any, make sure you are not on peaceful mode, because monsters will never spawn on peaceful. You must be at least on Easy.
