How come you can't evolve Poliwhirl with a king's rock on Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Red Rescue Team?
As I'm sure you know, your Pokemon are not able to evolve until after Rayquaza stops the meteor. Then the cave in which you evolve your Pokemon appears.
The requirements for evolving Pokemon on the main games are generally the same on Mystery Dungeon. e.g. Charmeleon has to be Level 36, Gloom needs Leaf Stone for Vileplume and Sun Stone for Bellossom
For those that require trading to evolve, though, you will need a Link Cable and the item they normally need. e.g. Machoke->Machamp, Clamperl+Deepsea Scale->Gorebyss, Poliwhirl+King's Rock->Politoed
