that dude was right about the ending to the game then but in the new reboots story opening it's revealed shao kahn and raiden are the last surviving fighters,shao kahn defeats raiden and destroys all the realms, in his last moments raiden sends his memories to the raiden of a different timeline who is at the start of the 1st tournament, he does this so this raiden can avoid the fate of the originals, then loads of back to the future-esque timeline changes start happening.
