How didn't it? World War II revolutionized warfare in two distinct ways:

1. Tactics. Before World War II, the primary aim of your military was to take as much territory as possible. World War II changed that and the aim became destroying the enemy army, forcing the government to surrender unconditionally. Furthermore, World War II saw the creation of the "blitzkrieg," also known as "lightning war," which saw massed tank formations penetrating single points in lines, spreading panic and quickly disproved the idea of "static defense."

2. Technology - World War II gave us radar, the jet engine, incredible new bombers, and massive new bombs to go with it.
