How do you beat level 9 on me and the key 2?

Don't move the mouse at all: the penguin will think about the key. Place the mouse cursor where the key was so you can click on the key location without *moving* the mouse, when he thinks of it again.

This is a "spot the differences" level, where the left and right sides of the screen are slightly different. Click on the 9 differences, which are mostly seen as different shapes (the orange circle is over the opposite side from your cursor, where the points should be the same).

One is the level number (9) and you have to click under it.

Another is the shoulder of the penguin to the right of the large number in the center.

Click quickly on the penguins as they appear on each of the 7 screens.

(Hint : you can click and move at the same time and it usually works.)

When all 7 are clicked, the 7th has the key.

This is a "Spot the difference" level so each side is different. The thought balloon says how many differences you have left. I'd say the hardest one is under the level number and the left top of your screen. Enjoy :)
