How do you become a Ranger in Dragon Quest 9?

You must go to the entrance of the Heights of Loneliness, and talk to the Ranger. He will offer a quest. Do his random quests to earn 14 Ancient Treasures (resources) and then keep training until they're gone.

You'll need 3 types of weapons for 3 different creatures.

You need a earth, wind and dark weapon

To fight a wind, earth and light creatures

at the entrance to the heights of lonliness there is a woman named Odval. talk to her and accept the quest. kill 2 chimeras with toxic dagger and let the poison finish them off. talk to her again. then go to Alltrades Abbey and have your character that you want to become a ranger become a ranger.
