The only game where it is really possible to become a "professional gamer" is Starcraft, and to succeed this would involve moving to Korea and devoting your entire life to it; perpetual 16 hour days of practice. Hypothetically this is how you would go about doing it, but it isn't really realistic barring ridiculous exceptions. The best way would be to wait for StarCraft 2.
HiddenTease.com has a way to become a pro gamer by making gameplay videos. Visit: pro.hiddentease.com for more details and to watch a Video covering all the important details.

Well you don't need to prestiage to be considered "a pro". Being a pro is how well you can play the game. "A Pro" should a person who is really good and amazing player. Ranks doesn't show how skilled a gamer is but how experienced the gamer is. a 4th prestage gamer has more experience than a 2nd prestiage gamer. (unless the person has hacked the game.)
