How do you control the car on shrink ray island?

The TOY TRUCK is used near the end of the island, to reach the school. Also, removing the battery from the truck lets you use the TV's remote control.

You don't need the truck in the kitchen: you can climb into the trash can using the sponge and the spray bottle.

To get the controller that lets you drive it, you have to get a grape from the kitchen table. You do this at the same time you pick up the piece of paper (a secret note from C.J.). After you complete the rest of the quest and find out that C.J. is in danger, you can drop the book "Tess's Tree" from the bookcase in C.J's room, which forms a ramp for some dangerous stunt driving.

You don't do anything with the remote, but you need it so you can drive the toy truck. But you never need to use it.

You drive it out of the window. Use the Tess's Tree book to make a ramp.
