Keep pressing A or B until the screen gives you 4 obtions: fight, bag, Pokemon, or run (though Pokemon is useless because you get Pokemon until you deliver a package and I'm not sure if you can run but I haven't tried it out). Select fight. Then select an attack. If you hit the foe, they loose health. The other kind boosts your stats until the end of the battle or until you switch out that Pokemon. Keep hitting the foe until it faints. The you get experience points and if you get enough of them, your Pokemon will level up. I hope I helped.
