When you go to the forest, do the same thing you did to get the Master Sword: beat up the puppet master..thing..until it gives up. It will let you back into the same area where the Master Sword was. Walk up the pedestal where you found the sword, and you should get an option to "Strike". Pressing the button causes Link to reinsert the sword into the pedestal, and remove it. Go back up to where you talked to Ooccoo, and the statue in front of the door is gone. Going through the door lets you head toward the Temple of Time (there's another golden bug in this area if you're interested). Complete the dungeon to get the Shard.
