Well, I just found this out a few months ago. The L and R buttons on my 3DS were worn out; luckily, I found out how to get them working again.
You need these materials:
- Your 3DS
- WD-40
- Cotton swab
- Paper towels ( or something else as long it can wipe away the WD-40 )
Let's begin with the steps. First, get your 3DS. You need to blow on the L and R buttons where there is just a little space between both of them. Second, get a few cotton swabs ( you probably should have one ) and apply a little Wd-40 on each end. Lift up the button just a little bit with your fingertips and apply the WD-40 to the button. Repeat the process for both buttons. Third, the WD-40 might/will drip down from the buttons so wipe it with a paper towel. Finally, blow once more into the buttons so that it dries into them.
Note: It will take some time for the WD-40 to clean the L and R buttons, so wait for a few minutes until they function properly. After some time, test it out to see if it worked.
The L and R buttons, also called the "shoulder buttons," are located on the back of the system on each corner; L on the left side, and R on the right. The location of these buttons are the same across all versions of the DS.
Q=L & w=R
Yes, it does, they are the GBA's 'shoulder' buttons.
In the SNES9x emulator, you can hold the L and R buttons by mapping them to your keyboard or controller. To do this, go to the "Input" menu, select "Input Configuration," and assign the L and R buttons to your desired keys or buttons. Once mapped, you can hold them down while playing to perform actions that require those buttons.

I need help because my R & L buttons are barely working and i found one time a rare candy code without using the R & L buttons!
A and S
L and R are simply 2 buttons on the back of a Nintendo DS or a Game Boy Advance.
They do work, but you have to move your cursor over the box number. Then you can use the L and R buttons to your hearts content.
If you press on joystick you can change them.
Unlike the classic gamecube controller
