It is important to involve an adult, because you have not shared what the issue is. This person may be bullying you, or may just be looking for a friend and you are trying to shut him or her out. Either way, it is important that you get help from an adult so you can learn from the situation what the appropriate and proper response is.

It depends on where they live, and of coarse the guardian's opinion. When I was in 1st grade, I started walking home alone. Although I was young, I think a 5th grader can handle it.
It's a very big stretch from 5th grade to 7th grade. Generally, a 5th grader is too young to date at all. 7th graders are in a different social circle than 5th graders because of the age difference. It would be difficult to get a 7th grader to ask a 5th grader out.
