You go to Kross in South District, and ask for an upgrade on your house (should be the choice underneath "I wanna talk"). Then, a list of upgrades will come up (kitchen, labratory, etc) and you click barn. One barn holds ten animals.

You have to finish a request where you get a pet glove as a reward and they tell you that Byron can make you a barn. After that he has another option when you speak to him. It asks if you want to build a barn. Click on it and he tells you what you need to build it. If you have all the materials, he will have it ready the next day. You can then capture monsters with your pet glove. You get a brush later in another request.

If you go to a house kinda by the ocean, its big and brown,3 men named woody, joe, and Kurt work there. Talk to woody at the front desk. Go to new construction, and there will be a list of things they can make you .If you check the signs in front of all the houses in harvest moon, it will tell you when that building is open and closed. You can buy a basic red barn by saving up you coin's (or buying the coins, but they cost rather alot) or you can buy loads of things to gain cash (or buying the cash but yet again they cost rather alot). Barns cost either 40,000 coins or 27 cash.

either way you will need to enter the market to buy a barn. the market button is located in the bottom right corner of the playing window. click it. You Will then see a button for 'buildings', then click the subheading 'storage'. Choose which one you want and click buy. place it on your farm.

You must beat the first boss (the Raccoon monster in Privera Forest). Then the option to build a Monster Barn will appear in Gaius's shop. It costs 40 pieces of Wood to build.

You can upgrade your Barn to have up to five rooms. Each room holds four monsters. So you can have 20 monsters max.
