How do you get a gang in Grand Theft Auto 3?

In order for CJ to gain more gang territory he has to go into that territory and have a fight with the current reigning gang. Once he has beaten them in the various attack waves, that territory will be marked green on the map (the colour of the Grove Street Family). He will be challenged from time to time to go back and fight off attacks from the other gang trying to regain the territory.

The protagonist in GTA IV, Niko Bellic, does not belong to a gang. It is not like GTA San Andreas where CJ was part of the gang culture. So Niko does not collect a gang, instead he collects friends and allies like Roman, Little Jacob, Brucie and Packie.

You can see gang activity in various parts of Liberty City. For example, in Hove Beach, Broker, there is evidence of the Russian mafia. In Little Italy you have the mafia, in Chinatown, the triads, in Alderney city, the Koreans, and so on.

Between missions, or after completing the game, it can be quite interesting to go to some of these areas and get Niko to start trouble and see the reaction of the gangsters and the police.

You can not get a gang of your own in GTA III. There are, however, a few missions where you work below bigger bosses or for some type of agent, in which you will work together with NPC:s.
