How do you get a hogtie in red dead redemption?

• Equip the lasso by completing one of bonnies missions.
• Lasso a person
• DO NOT let go of the lasso and approach the person
• Press Y (or triangle for PS3) to hogtie the person

You have to first lasso them so they fall, then continue holding L2 (PS3) to reel it in while you walk towards the victim. When you get close enough, you can click triangle ∆ and he will perform a hogtie.

Hold L2 to ready the rope and press R2 to make at a lasso. Aim it at a horse to rope it.

You have to take out your lasso. You use it just the same as you do when catching wild horses. Then when you walk up to the person it should say something like "press Y to hogtie"
