No you can't make asymetrical vehicles :(
^ Actually, yes you can. If you have Patch 5+ downloaded, you can press the letter A (and a little icon of a creature with wonky eyes will pop up), drag the item you want to make symmetrical and it will stay like that permanently, unless you undo the assymetry with the Undo button, or delete it and do it again.
Each symmetrical part comes as one of a "pair"; If one of the pair is missing, the next time you "copy" the part using the ALT button, it will not cost any DNA to spawn it and will be symmetrical aswell.
The ONLY exception to assymetry is on buildings; they were already assymmetrical to begin with and therefore don't need it.
Well, from what I know, download patch five or higher. That's all...
Download the Asymmetry patch. after that, hold a and select the piece you want
In the Spore Creature Creator, the Asymmetry button is located on the right side of the interface. It's represented by a symbol that resembles a split creature, allowing you to create uneven or asymmetrical features for your creature. By toggling this button, you can modify the left and right sides of your creature independently, adding more uniqueness to your designs.
if you patched it to the second patch just press A and the part your puting on will be asymmetical so the asymmmetry is useless now
Asymmetry Festival was created in 1999.

Get the Galactic Adventures ex. pack and download asymmetry patch and use it. After your game is patched, go into a creature creator. To make the part asymmetric, hold "A" while you drag the part. WALLA! You have just created an asymmetric part.

There are several advantages of asymmetry in nature, such as allowing phenotypic variations to thrive if the environment is varies greatly. Asymmetry also allows organisms to create new cells and purge old ones.
