How do you get pumpkin on Minecraft?

In the release where pumpkins came out, no, and not in the updates yet. They apparently grow in a manner similar to mushrooms, mostly on grass and in shady areas -- although I've seen them on hilltops in the snow. Heh. Finding them by luck is your best bet so far.

You can make a Jack O Latern by putting a torch in a pumpkin, in the 1.4.2. update you can make pumpkin pie with sugar and eggs. You can also farm pumpkins by put pumpkins in your crafting slot and it comes out with seeds then you make a farmland and then you can harvest them.

If you have a 2 or 3 snow blocks, and one pumpkin you can make a snowman

Not a lot really, You can turn it into a Jack-O-Lantern if you have a torch which you can wear as a helmet or place as an underwater torch.
