How do you get ray gun on black ops campaign?

In the first room you start, go behind the shelf and pick up the tape. Then you leave the room, get on the roof, kill everybody, jump weaver and Clarke, move the fridge, put down the tape on a bar, then the room will shake and there will be a thunder gun.
