The piece of paper is the missing Translation Page from Professor Hammerhead's Journal. Push the large block to the right until you can reach the hanging vine. Climb to the first platform and jump left onto the roof.

The missing journal page provides the translation for the ancient symbols, so that in the underground ruins you can enter the word "OPEN" to open the door. The journal page is on top of the outside ruins. Push the big rock over to the right and jump up to the vine. When you reach the platform, jump hard left onto the temple roof. (The symbols are the 3rd, 4th, 6th, and 7th from the left, then press the nose.) == == You push the big stone block underneath the vine then jump and grab it.
