well first you find the mystery box then you have to get a pistol and you buy the mystery box once the cover opens shoot it 4 times and duck all the way down and shoot it 4 times again you will get the ray gun or thunder gun.

OK what you have to do is: your points have to be 950 and open the box when the ??? are gold and shoot at the gunwale the gun is coming out of the box.do all that you should get the ray gun.p.s. sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.

The only real legitimate way to get the Ray Gun, is from the RANDOM box. Note: The chances of getting a Ray Gun are pretty small.

Go to the mystery box(must have at least 950 points). Press x(Xbox 360) or square(ps3) then shoot 4 times in the middle then crouch get back up fast then shoot 4 more times and BOOM u have ur ray gun.

Supposedly, if you open a random gun box, you are supposed to fire a handgun 4 times into the lid, go prone and then fire 4 more times and reload, and that is supposed to give you a ray gun. Has only worked twice for me though.
