How do you get treats on Nintendogs?

When going on walks you can stop by the "?" and it may either be a dog or an item. Sometimes while walking if you see your dog icon stop while your dog is still walking it may be garbage or and item just tug on the leash towards the present and you dog will retrieve it. Also if you want rare items set up your clover clock if you have one and wear a lucky collar when you go on a walk. (these items may be received when walking) If you go to the discount shop on your walk you scroll to the bottom of the list and there may be a different item/toy that has never been there.
