No, you can go to sleep but there are no dreams
Go to the minecraft main website and make an account (for free) and click Singleplayer, where it says play classic.
Ender Portals are unbuildable in Singleplayer, but if you go into creative mode, you'll find the End Portal Frames and Ender Eyes in one of the tabs, the only way to find them in Singleplayer survival is to use Ender Eyes to follow and find the location of the Strongholds of the Portals.
first go to you web browser and type in the search bar minecraft.net. it will take you too a minecraft page. click minecraft classic under where it says play minecraft in browser download. once you click minecraft classic it will take you too a page where it will say that you should play the demo. ignore that and go down to the bottom of the page where it says singleplayer and multplayer. click whatever you want and play!
build a bed, get in the bed. if you're playing with multiple people all players must be in bed.
It's probably because you're on a different version of Minecraft than the servers you're trying to load up. Usually servers are up to date, so if you keep to an older version for mods/texture packs or whatever reason, I would recommend just switching to the most up to date version of Minecraft when you want to go online, and then go back to your current version when playing singleplayer.
I presume this question was written before the bed update came out, but just incase you didn't know or hadn't updated, beds are now in minecraft that you can go to sleep in at night. Going to sleep in a bed will make that bed your spawn point.
There is actually an easy way to download Minecraft without buying the game. Unfortunately, you can't create an account or play multiplayer. Go to the Minecraft website and click on "Download it here" which is in the column under "Get Minecraft." Ignore the "Already bought the game." Once you've clicked on it, you will see "Minecraft.exe" in a hyperlink, so you will be able to spot it. Clicking it will download it, and then double-click Minecraft.exe in your files to load the Minecraft Launcher. Again, you can only play singleplayer on the downloaded version. Hope this helped :)
