Well, as a Sims 2 addict, I happen to know the answer:
You simply make the adult Sim click on a newspaper or computer and select "find own place".
To get someone to move out with the Sim in question, they must live with the family. Pets can be moved out with a Sim as well. A pop-up screen will ask you who you wish to move out with. If a Sim you want to move out with isn't on that screen, make sure you live with them. After you select a Sim to move out with-or just click the check without selecting anyone-a taxi will pick the Sim(s) up. They will appear in the neighborhood families bin.
