In the first part of the game where you play as Desmond Miles, you do not get a weapon to fight with except your fists (press X/square to attack). He also does not know how to counter, and you cannot die in the first part. Once you are playing as Ezio Auditore da Virenze in the Animus, you can only use your fists, but Ezio knows how to counter. You receive the Codex Page for the hidden blade (which you need to bring to Leonardo da vinci) when you get the Assassin's Robes later on in the story.
yes but the story of the original games is different. Theres Assassins Creed:Altairs Chronicles which is about The Assassin Altair from the first game(carrying on from the first Assassins Creed) and there is also Assassins Creed 2:Discovery,set 15years after Assassins Creed 2.
yes but buy assassins creed 1 first to get familiar with it.

First you need to buy the heavy sheath from any of the available tailors around Rome, then you need to visit the Blacksmith and purchase a heavy weapon. Then select the weapon from the weapons menu. There you have it a nice powerful weapon!
Yes. There are more weapons, scenarios, and extra features to play with. I found Assassins Creed (1) Repetitive.
No, no and yes. The first two Assassins Creed's are not online. But the newest one, on Xbox 360 and PlayStation3, Assassins Creed Brotherhood, is online where you can assassinate online people while they try and assassinate you. So this answer depends on which Assassins Creed you are talking about.
