you go to the pokemon center, go up the stairs next to nurse joy and talk to the person to your left behind a counter. Then after you say yes to everytning she says you will go into a room. The person you want to trade with will have to do the same thing you did. Then once your friend is in the room and off the teleporter a person will appear in both of the rooms that you are in, only one of you can talked to him/her. You go up to the person and press A and they will talk to you. Then a list will come up and look foor the one that says TRADE and press the A button when the arrow is pointing to the icon that says TRADE. The person you are trading with will have to say YES after you select TRADE then after some loading a list of the your pokemon will come up. Select the pokemon you want to trade and then touch it and touch the Icon that says TRADE. Your friend will have to do the same then select YES. After some trading when the list of your pokemon has appeared again go to QUIT and select YES. Then press the B button when you come back to the room and when the person that was in the room with you teleports away head for the teleporter and you will exit the room and you will have sucessfully traded your pokemon.
