Well if you know someone else that has nintendogs (any kind) and if they already have a shiba inu then you can connect your DSi's, Ds' 3Ds' and 'catch up' with them. Your friend has to choose their shiba inu for the 'catch up' and you can choose any of your dogs. This always works for me, I hope this helped

Dachshund and friends Chihuahua and friends Labrador and friends Dalmatian and friends Each comes with 6 of the breeds from the list above though all breeds are unlockable whether you unlock them with trainer points or get them from a friend on bark mode. Note: You can also unlock a Jack Russell Terrier if you find the Jack Russell Book on a walk.

If you just want to buy a new dog, choose the option; Go out. Then choose the shopping button, then select kennel. Here you can choose a new pup. If you'd like to unlock new dogs, compete in competitions and look after your pups and you can "unlock" new breeds.
You need 45000 points to unlock the Labrador Retriever.
