Double clicking the item in your use inventory generaly will work.
To open your use inventory, click "i" and if clicking i doesn't work, then that means you changed it, and you will have to click the bag looking icon at the bottom right of your screen. Then click the "use" tab of the inventory. The double click the item you would like to use.
