How do you use the whistle to summon the starflight express in dragon quest IX sentinels of the starry skies?

After you have completed the game, you go back to the Porth Llaffan, talk to Jona in her house and accept the "Follow that Fish" quest (39?). You then talk to the old ghost on the beach at night.

She will tell you you need to get a watermaul wand, flowing dress, and a silver shield in order to summon Leviathan.

The watermaul wand can be bought at the weapon shop in Bloomingdale. The flowing dress can be bought the amour shop in Wormwood, and the silver shield can be bought the improved amour shop in Stornway.

You must then go back to Jona and tell her the news. She will ask you you to grab the items for her and she will meet you where you fought Leviathan originally, the private beach behind the mayor's house.

After you have all the items, you go back to where you fought Leviathan and talk to Jona again.

After this, you must fight Leviathan, but this time he is much stonger and has more HP.

Once the cutscene is done you will get Sterling's whistle, which allows you to summom the Starflight Express from just about anywhere.

there's a post-game quest involving the real Llevithian. you get a fygg and you can see the starflight again. i don't know all the details, but i think after you talk to sterling, he gives you the whistle

after you complete the game , go to port laffan (sorry if im not spelling correctly) and go to the girl with pink her in the hut next to inn , and she'll have a quest to find the real leivathein the huge fish you battlled earlier, but in order to do so you must find the old lady ghost outside after you accept the quest, and she will tell you to put clothes that the fat fish like, witch is a silver shield found in the new armor shop in stornway when you complete the game, still in the same shop, then a sleepy stick found in besturg weapon shop, and lastly a flower dress found in wormwood armor shop.after all that go over to the girl who gave you the quest and she'll tell you to meet at the mayor's private beach where you fought the leivathein first time and then when you get to the top she will be meet you there when you arrive. put the clothes on your character and the beast will come but much more powerfull moves, and when defeated , well im not going to spiol it.

it depends on how you look at it, my guess is you've acquired the whistle but you can't use it or see it in important or normal item bag, I've had the same problem all you have to do is go to normal items and select orginise items, that's it! ^^ [Possibly because one of your team has the whistle in their inventory.] All you have to do now is go into [Everyday] items and find it!

'Whistle' is not a party trick, it is one of the Warrior's skills, gained from the Courage skill tree.

It is learned by changing vocation to Warrior and putting 8 points into the Courage skill set.
