Resistance exercise and cardiovascular exercise can greatly benefit you. Working out regularly can increase bone density (making you less prone to fractures and osteoperosis), reduce body fat, increase lean body mass, and increase muscle strength. It also reduces insulin response to glucose, reduces resting insulin levels, and increases insulin sensitivity- which can reduce your risk of developing type-2 Diabetes. Working out also raises HDL (good) cholesterol, lowers LDL (bad) cholesterol, lowers triglycerides, lowers resting heart rate, increases heart stroke volume, increases maximum cardiac output, decrease blood pressure at rest, increases maximum oxygen consumption, increases endurance time, increase resting metabolism and increases one's general health-related quality of life. It's no surprise then that regular exercise appears to reduce the risk of many diseases, ranging from cancer to heart attacks, strokes, diabetes, colds, age-related cognitive decline, and many more. We continue to learn more and more benefits of exercise every day.
