It solely depends on what percentage they are working. The lower the percentage the higher they rise on the transplant list. However, that list is extremely long which is why people hope that a family member has the same blood type and has a tissue match. From experience I know that a person operating at 27% on both kidneys can last approximately 5 months before having to begin dialysis.
