Halo 3, to date, has sold about 9 Million copies. Halo 2 sold 9 Million copies, and Halo 1 sold 5 Million copies. Estimated 350 Million profit for Bungie alone.
Not sure on the current sales figures but it sold 2.5 million copies at launch.

halo 3 was very unpopular... so unpopular in fact that only 75 people bought the game and the franchise was scrapped

As of January 2008, 8.1 million copies have been sold. That's the most recent number I could find.
