How manys sims can you make on Sims 3?

I have The Sims 3. It is either 7, 8 , or 9. If you want to make sure go to create a sim and then just make random sims till you cant make anymore and count them.

It's 8 because the couple I made had six kids and it said that this is the maximum my household could be.

You can have a total of 8 sims per household so when you have 8 sims a sims in your house cannot become pregnant and if you have the fertility treatment and you have 7 sims in your house and that sim is pregnant they can not have twins or triplets

You can have a total of 10 active people and pets. You can reach 10 in several ways such as having 4 people and 6 pets, or 8 people and 2 pets. However, you cannot have more than 8 people or 6 pets without a mod.
