Cydonia is a region on Mars known for its unique geological formations, including the famous "Face on Mars." It was formed through a combination of volcanic activity, erosion by wind and possibly water, and the planet's tectonic processes over millions of years. The region's distinct features are primarily shaped by Mars' arid environment and lack of significant atmospheric weathering compared to Earth. The interpretation of specific formations, like the Face, often involves a mix of natural geological processes and optical illusions.

because people worshiped it like it was god.people thought it was very important because good things happened to the people that prayed for the city of cydonia
I can only find a reference to a company called Cydonia PCs, Poynton, England. As far as I know there are no cities at all on Mars.
The City of Cydonia on Mars was first discovered in 1976 by the Viking 1 spacecraft, which captured images of a region on Mars that appeared to contain a face-like formation. Subsequent images taken by other spacecraft have revealed additional details about the region, but the idea of a "city" on Cydonia is largely a product of speculation and conspiracy theories.
The discovery of the Cydonia region on Mars was made by NASA's Viking 1 orbiter in 1976. The famous "Face on Mars" and other intriguing formations in Cydonia sparked speculation about possible ancient civilizations on the planet. However, subsequent higher resolution images from other Mars missions revealed that these features are the result of natural erosion and geological processes.
The myth of the city of Cydonia is based on the idea that there is an ancient and advanced civilization on Mars, specifically in the region known as Cydonia. Proponents of this myth point to the "Face on Mars" and other formations in the area as evidence of this lost civilization, though these claims have been widely dismissed by scientists and astronomers as pareidolia - the tendency to see familiar shapes in random patterns.
