The #20 that Tony Stewart drove while racing for Joe Gibbs, remained with Joe Gibbs Racing. It is now Joey Logano's number. Being that Stewart had to choose a new number after he left, he chose #14. This was done in honor of his childhood idol, A.J. Foyt.
From 1999 through the 2008 season, Tony Stewart drove the #20 Home Depot car in the Nascar Cup Series.
Yes, he has. Tony Stewart drove the #44 car in 1997 and 1998. It was in the Nascar Busch Series, now known as the Nationwide Series.
David Stremme currently drives the #30 car in the Nascar Sprint Cup Series.
Michael Waltrip was the driver of the number 15 car in NASCAR in 2013.
Jeff Gordon drives the number 24 car in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.
Not sure but in 2005, Nascar #08 was sponsored by WINFUEL/Braun Racing, Driver was Shane Hmiel And nascar owns all the rights to the numbers, so im sure Braun Racing isn't really have control of the number anymore, but there is the #08 Rhino Energy Drink Car that Tony Raines will drive at the 2008 Aarons 499. Im not sure what the team name is. The owners of the racing team have control over the numbers. When Tony Stewart was setting things up for Stewart-Haas Racing, he wanted #4 for Ryan Newman's car. That number is owned by Morgan-McClure Racing and, although they are no longer avtive participants in NASCAR, they would not let Tony have rights to the number. BTW, #4 was the number of Tony's go-kart.
Currently, Bill Elliott drives the #21 car on a part time basis for Woods Brothers Racing.
The NASCAR driver Jimmie Johnson is not dead. He races in the number 48 car in the NASCAR races.
